I am a science staff member at the Leibniz Institut für Astronomie (AIP). My main interest is to understand how galaxies form and evolve. More specifically, I study how galaxies assemble their stars and how the abundances of chemical elements in galaxies evolve with cosmic time.

I am interested in some of the tools that allow to make progress on this topic:

1) Imaging Spectroscopy

2) Stellar population models

3) Galaxy kinematic and dynamical models

I also lecture at Humboldt University in Berlin and (co-)supervise PhD, Master and Bachelor theses at University Potsdam. Finally, I contribute to planning and constructing new instruments for astronomical research.
